When we reformulate a product at Bush Tucker Blends it is never done lightly. Our previous collagen was the best product we could find at the time and we proudly stood behind it. But one of our core beliefs is that health, science, and sourcing are always evolving. During that process we discovered a world class supplier doing something almost unheard of in the collagen industry. They are currently the only producer in the world who does not bleach their collagen and does not use chemical pits or harsh acid extraction to pull collagen from hides. Instead their process focuses on careful hide selection, mild pretreatment, temperature controlled natural enzymatic hydrolysis and mechanical filtration. No bleaching agents. No aggressive chemicals. No fillers or masking agents. Just a clean process designed to preserve the natural integrity of the collagen proteins.
Because of this natural approach the collagen does not look like the bright white completely flavourless powders many people are used to seeing. Instead it has a slight natural cream to light brown tone and a very subtle flavour. In our view that is actually a positive sign. It means the collagen has not been stripped, bleached or over processed to achieve a perfectly white appearance.
Think of it this way. If someone served you a steak that was pale white with absolutely no flavour you would probably question its integrity. A good steak has colour and character.
