First and foremost, Bush Tucker Blends would like to acknowledge and pay respects to the people of the Yugambeh region of the Gold Coast as well as the original custodians of the land both past and present.
NAIDOC week is held between the 3rd and 10th of July and celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Not only is it a celebration but a great opportunity for all Australians to learn about the First Nations cultures and histories.
This year's NAIDOC theme is Get Up! Stand Up! Show up! What does this mean? It means continuous momentum for change for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait people, and continuing the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non‑Indigenous Australians, a relationship based on justice, equity, and the proper recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights.
Bush Tucker Blends was formulated by acknowledging the incredible medicine nature has to offer, especially Australian nature, and bush medicine. Therefore, we have always had a deeper mission to acknowledge, respect and empower Australian Indigenous culture. We support ANTAC who foster the Ngangkari people of Australia, the traditional Indigenous Healers who are located in many communities throughout wider Australia.
Traditional Indigenous healing is as old as the culture itself. Over a long time, Indigenous healers built a body of knowledge based on the resources and wisdom they found on the land. Indigenous Australians see the mind, body and spirit as one. A foundation we respect and have fostered into our own formulations. We have endeavoured to source many of our ingredients and education through Indigenous owned companies, and learnt many things about bush medicine, and its healing. As well as continuing our own education, and education of others on its power.
Here at Bush Tucker Blends for the 2022 NAIDOC campaign we are setting out to do our best to bring more awareness and recognition for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait people. We are Getting up, Standing up, and Showing up! We pledge to donate $2 per product purchased Australia wide during the month of July, on top of our ongoing commitment of donating 10% of our company profits to ANTAC.
